Description
VINTAGE MOORCROFT ART POTTERY COLUMBINE FLORAL DESIGN COBALT BLUE CABINET VASEA gorgeous hand decorated art pottery miniature or cabinet vase.
It is decorated with a hand-painted colorful “Columbine” floral decoration with the background color fading from cobalt blue at the foot to pale blue at the top rim.
Both sides of the vase are shown in the photos and each side features a very different decoration pattern or design.
The piece was made by the Moorcroft Pottery in England.
This piece has been in my personal collection since 1997.
Examples of this same “Columbine” pattern of decoration can be seen in the book
Moorcroft Revised Edition 1897-1993
by Paul Atterbury on Page 144 in Plate 1.
The pale blue squat vase in this same photo appears to be the same size and shape vase as the one in this sale.
The vase is marked with an impressed mark “MOORCROFT” on the underside of the foot and the words “MADE IN ENGLAND” on two lines.
Note: these marks are not highlighted with cobalt as is typical with Moorcroft pieces of this era and the marks are extremely faint – see the last 4 photos.
On page 202 of this same book it appears that this would be “Mark 18” which the book says was in use from “c1949-1986”.
A very attractive and desirable little vase!
I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.

However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.
I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer.

Age and Condition
Circa 1949-1986.
It is in excellent to mint original condition.
Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.
There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs.
I checked the vase over carefully with a black light and found no evidence of damage or repairs.
I do see some overall crazing to the glaze that I would expect to see on pieces of art pottery of this age.
This is not immediately obvious but can be seen with the aid of a jeweler’s loupe.
Anything else you think you see is a reflection of light in the photos.
Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger in the photos than it really is.
Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
